TECHNICAL INFORMATION
As there are no reference standards for flotation devices for dogs, it was decided to use the EN 13138-1 standard (Buoyant aids for swimming instruction – Part 1: SAFETY REQUIREMENTS AND TEST METHODS FOR Buoyant aids for swimming instruction – Part 1: SAFETY REQUIREMENTS AND TEST METHODS FOR Buoyant aids for swimming instruction) as the basis for carrying out the tests.
In particular, the following tests have been carried out:
BUOYANCY TEST:
5.3.3 of the above standard (MEASUREMENT OF BUOYANCY OF COMPLETE SWIMMING DEVICE)
BUOYANCY VARIATION TEST:
5.6.3 of the above-mentioned standard (RESISTEANCE OF FOAM ANOTHER INHERENT BUOYANT MATERIAL TO WATER ABSORPTION).
This test verifies that the jacket has not lost more than 10% of its initial buoyancy after 24 hours of immersion:
“Our dog lifejackets have retained their initial buoyancy.”
